Hello again! I'm glad to have all of you back in my advisory class this year. I know that trek upstairs in the morning from the 7th grade may be hard, but you'll get used to it! 
This year CMS is going to use a new character development series during advisory class called Second Step. The goal of Second Step is to introduce students to some tools on how to make some positive behavior choices, conflict resolution skills, enhance their social skills and good citizenship. I went to a training for this program last spring and I think it's pretty fantastic. I'm glad CMS has decided to adopt it this year.
Portfolios will needed to be updated for 7th grade, although you don't want to get rid of all of your 6th grade artifacts. We'll talk more about portfolios soon enough, as October student led conferences will be coming up fast!
